Benji Feldheim

Benji Feldheim started his career in journalism writing music reviews and celebrity news for the Chicago Red Eye. His first cover story involved convincing a severely hung-over Jack Black to follow through with an interview.

Later as a newspaper reporter, Feldheim wrote about breaking news in the DeKalb, IL. area, which included coverage of the Northern Illinois University shooting in 2008. Fortunately, he was also able to pursue longer, more in-depth features - his real passion.

Topics in Feldheim’s portfolio include Brazilian percussion, autistic teens, people who construct and fly their own airplanes, Burmese monks and the connection made between two families when the organs from a young man killed in a bar fight in DeKalb saved the life of an ailing mother in northern Wisconsin.

After teaching classes about short stories and Gandhi for a semester at an alternative high school in Malta, IL., Feldheim returned to Chicago in July 2009 to pursue online media production, freelance writing and to be back in a town where he can hear equally good bluegrass and hip hop all in the same night.

Given a choice, he prefers writing about what is still good in the world, and his blog posts will focus on efforts within Total Attorneys to help the women in Uganda thrive in their new home.
